The government said that there are signs of a resurgence, and decided to announce a countermeasure against quarantine next week.

[Reporter] With the spread of
Corona 19 , new patients approaching 20,000 came out for the fourth day.

Recently, the average daily number of confirmed cases exceeded 15,000, which nearly doubled from the previous week.

The infection reproduction index also stood at 1.05 , indicating the spread of the epidemic.

It is analyzed that the sub-mutation of Omicron, which has high contagious power, spreads rapidly and is increasing its spread in a situation where the person is vulnerable to infection due to increased movement in summer or decreased immunity.

In fact, overseas studies have shown that the immune evasion level of BA.4 and BA.5 mutations is 20 times that of the prototype strain Corona 19 and 3 times that of the Omicron mutation.

In particular , the BA.5 mutation has 35 % more transmission power than the currently dominant BA.2 , so the detection rate in Korea has surged more than three times in a week. .

It is predicted that if the dominant species soon becomes the dominant species, the size of the epidemic will increase sharply.

Accordingly, the government is reviewing the necessity of various quarantine measures such as expanding the fourth dose of vaccine to minimize damage and maintaining social distance.

After discussions with experts and related ministries, if a countermeasure for the outbreak is decided, it will be announced next Wednesday.

People who have been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus infection (COVID - 19 ) are more likely to develop health problems if they become infected again, a study has found.

On the 5th local time, CNN reported that a research team led by Professor Jayad R. Ally of Washington University in St. Louis, USA, published this information on Research Square, a site for pre-publication of the thesis. The study was based on the health records of approximately 5.6 million people who had experience with COVID- 19

-related treatment at the Veterans Health Administration . According to the report, the research team set 250,000 confirmed COVID- 19 cases, 38,000 people infected with Corona 19 more than once (2200 people infected 3 times , 246 people infected 4 times ), and 5.3 million people who had never been infected with Corona 19 as control groups. compared. As a result, those infected with COVID-19 more than once

Those with a single confirmed diagnosis were more than twice as likely to die within six months and three times more likely to be hospitalized.

In addition, patients re-infected with COVID- 19 had a greater risk of developing lung or heart problems than those who were infected once, and had a higher risk of digestive and kidney problems, diabetes, and other risks.

In particular, re-infected people have new symptoms such as chest pain, abnormal heartbeat, heart attack, myocarditis, pericarditis, heart failure, and blood clots.

These symptoms were most likely to occur immediately after reinfection with COVID- 19 .

It was found that the number of new symptoms after reinfection increased in proportion to the number of reinfections, regardless of whether or not the person was vaccinated.

"If you have been infected before, further infection can pose a health risk," said Professor Al Ally.
